View original on mass.gov

Summary

PERAC Memorandum #42, 2011 requests that retirement boards update their disability retiree records to ensure PERAC's database accurately reflects post-retirement earnings limits. Boards must review the attached list of disability retirees and report any 2011 status changes (death, nursing home confinement, waiver of allowance, return to active status, or address changes), and complete a "New Member Data" form for any new disability retirees approved in 2011. All updates are due to PERAC by January 17, 2012, to ensure accuracy before the 2011 Annual Statements of Earned Income (91A) are mailed at the end of February.

MEMORANDUM #42, 2011 Gregory R. Mennis M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Joseph E. Connarton, Executive Director RE: 2011 Disability Retiree Data DATE: December 16, 2011 In order to make an accurate determination on the statutory limit of your member’s post retirement earnings as a disabled public retiree we need to maintain an accurate and current disability retiree database. We respectfully request that you review the attached list and make all necessary status changes that occurred in the year 2011. These changes should be made when a member is deceased, confined to a nursing home, has waived his/her allowance, has returned to active status, and/or has had a change of address. Please be reminded that, as a result of a change in the law that now terminates a member’s allowance rather than suspends it for non-compliance, the importance of keeping PERAC apprised of any status changes is even greater. To avoid any unnecessary inconvenience or hardship to your member we need your diligence in obtaining this information. Also, please fill out the enclosed “New Member Data” form in its entirety for all new retirees approved by your board for an accidental or ordinary disability in 2011. If any member is missing from the enclosed list, please include their information on the New Member Data form. You should make additional copies of the blank form if needed. It is imperative that all information be returned to PERAC no later than January 17, 2012, to ensure accuracy in our member database, prior to our mailing of the 2011 Annual Statements of Earned Income (91A) which traditionally takes place at the end of February. Thank you for your continued cooperation in this matter.
