PERAC Memo #40 - 2010: 2010 Disability Retiree Data
2010 Disability Retiree Data
View original on MA State Library →Summary
PERAC Memorandum #40, 2010 asks retirement boards to review and update their disability retiree database to ensure accurate tracking of post-retirement earnings limits, since disability allowances are now terminated (not just suspended) for non-compliance. Boards must update statuses for deaths, nursing home confinements, waived allowances, returns to active status, or address changes, and submit a completed "New Member Data" form for all new 2010 disability retirees, with all information due to PERAC by January 19, 2011, ahead of the 91A Annual Statements mailing.

MEMORANDUM #40, 2010 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Francis E. Valeri RE: 2010 Disability Retiree Data DATE: December 20, 2010 In order to make an accurate determination on the statutory limit of your member’s post retirement earnings as a disabled public retiree we need to maintain an accurate and current disability retiree database. We respectfully request that you review the attached list and make all necessary status changes that occurred in the year 2010. These changes should be made when a member is deceased, confined to a nursing home, has waived his/her allowance, has returned to active status, and/or has had a change of address. Please be reminded that, as a result of a change in the law that now terminates a member’s allowance rather than suspends it for non-compliance, the importance of keeping PERAC apprised of any status changes is even greater. To avoid any unnecessary inconvenience or hardship to your member we need your diligence in obtaining this information. Also, please fill out the enclosed “New Member Data” form in its entirety for all new retirees approved by your board for an accidental or ordinary disability in 2010. If any member is missing from your enclosed list, please include their information on the New Member Data form. You should make additional copies of the blank form if needed. It is imperative that all information be returned to PERAC no later than January 19, 2011, to ensure accuracy in our member database, prior to our mailing of the 2010 Annual Statements of Earned Income (91A). Thank you for your continued cooperation in this matter. Enclosures
