MEMORANDUM #12, 2009 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Frank E. Valeri, Deputy Director RE: 2009 Disability Seminars DATE: February 11, 2009 The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission will provide disability training seminars for retirement boards in 2009. These seminars are targeted toward new retirement board staff members; however, all are welcome to participate. The focus will be on disability basics, Workers’ Compensation calculations, and the 91A process. Because our goal is to customize our presentations to meet the needs of every staff member, please take the time to tell us about disability issues that are of particular interest to you. You may either e-mail Kate Hogan, Manager of Medical Services, at KHogan@per.state.ma.us or fax your response to 617-628-4414. To preserve confidentiality, please do not include any information pertaining to an actual case.
The first disability seminar of 2009 will be held in the training room at PERAC on March 19, 2009. Please use the
attached form to register for it. A second seminar will be held on May 14, 2009 at PERAC. Registration forms for
that seminar will be mailed at a later date. (Please note if demand exceeds the training room seating capacity
additional sessions will be scheduled at PERAC.) We will also offer disability seminars in Western Massachusetts on
dates and locations to be announced.
