RE: Superannuation Retirement Pension Calculator

We are pleased to provide visitors with a link on PERAC’s website (www.mass.gov/perac) to the superannuation
retirement pension calculator (www.mass.gov/treasury/retcalbene.htm) developed by the State Board of Retirement.
This calculator provides estimates of potential retirement benefits for superannuation retirement only, and to
individuals within Groups 1, 2 and 4. It does not provide estimates for disability retirement, termination allowances
[Section 10(2)], and specialized calculations including those for members of the State Police Department, judges, and
corrections officers seeking a “20/50” retirement. An individual who is interested in one of these benefits should
contact his/her retirement board.
Please note that actual pension amounts can ONLY be calculated at the time of retirement under M.G.L. c.32 and the
Massachusetts State Employees’ Retirement System or any other retirement system is not bound by estimates given via
the on-line calculator.
The members of your system might very well wish to access the calculator for estimating their retirement benefits
from time to time. Please let them know about it.
