M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards

In May 2006, PERAC will be making presentations on recent developments in the public pension law in Massachusetts. The topics which will be covered are the recently promulgated regular compensation regulations, the recent court decision in the motor vehicle cases and how to implement the court decision, Chapter 157 of the Acts of 2005 (Disability Retirement Benefits for Veterans) and Chapter 143 of the Acts of 2005 (Change of Option Selection for Certain Retirees.)

At these sessions, we will do our best to answer any questions you may have. If you plan on coming to a session and would like us to consider a question you may have about any of the topics above in advance, please e-mail your question to jacorrigan@per.state.ma.us and we will try and include your questions in our presentation. Please be sure the e-mail contains the heading “Spring 2006 Class Question”.

Registration for these classes will be on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Because seating capacity is limited in each of the locations, it is important to register at your earliest opportunity.

A PERAC Class Registration Form is attached. Please make copies of the blank form for each person wishing to attend one of these classes. Upon receipt of your completed registration form, PERAC will, via fax or e-mail, either confirm that a seat has been reserved for you, or advise you that seating capacity has already been reached. Unfortunately, anyone not pre-registered cannot be guaranteed a seat. In addition, if you find that you are unable to attend a class for which you have registered, please let us know in a timely fashion so that we might offer the seat to someone on the waiting list.
