Memorandum # 43/2004

M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Joseph E. Connarton, Executive Director RE: Additional Fall 2004 Class

DATE: October 29, 2004

As I informed you in PERAC Memo #38/2004, PERAC will be offering classes in a variety of locations in November. Recent pension-related changes in the Massachusetts General Laws and federal statutes will be reviewed. Another segment will focus on common audit findings, their origins, and ways to prevent them. Proper record keeping practices will be discussed and guidance will be offered on how to prepare for a field audit.

Due to the demand, we have scheduled an additional seminar on Thursday, December 2, 2004 (9:30 AM – Noon) at PERAC. PERAC staff members will contact the 15 retirement board administrators who are now on the waiting list to give them the first opportunity to sign up for the December 2 nd class. There are approximately 15 other seats available to those who are interested. If you are interested in attending this class, please complete the attached registration form and fax it to the attention of Joan Arsenault at 617-628-4002 as soon as possible.
