Summary

Enclosed for your review is a copy of proposed additions to the Commission’s regulations, which have been filed with the Office of the Secretary of State, in accordance with G.L. c. 30A.
These regulations deal with Retirement Board Travel, and differ in two respects from the Commission’s Guidelines for Retirement Board Travel Supplemental Regulations issued on March 7, 2002:

  1. Proposed Regulation 840 CMR 2.04(4) expands to 60 days the timeframe during which requests for reimbursements must be submitted.

  2. Proposed Regulation 840 CMR 2.06 (5) allows the Retirement Board to determine whether optional insurance coverage for rental cars will be required.

Please note that Proposed Regulation 840 CMR 2.01 provides that any Retirement Board supplementary regulation that has been approved by the Commission prior to the effective date of the Proposed Regulations shall be deemed to be consistent with 840 CMR 2.00.

A series of public hearings will be held on the following dates and locations:

• November 18, 2002, Monday, at 1:00 PM at the Municipal Building (behind the City Hall), 212 Main Street, Northampton, MA. This hearing will be held in the Council Chambers Room.

• November 19, 2002, Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square, Worcester, MA. This hearing will be held in the Banx Room.

• November 21, 2002, Thursday, at 1:00 PM at the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, 5 Middlesex Avenue, 3rd Floor, Somerville, MA 02145.
This hearing will be held in the PERAC Training Room on the 3rd floor.

• December 4, 2002, Wednesday, at 10:00 AM at the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, 5 Middlesex Avenue, 3rd Floor, Somerville, MA 02145.
This hearing will be held in the PERAC Training Room on the 3rd floor.

You are encouraged to attend and participate at all or any of these hearings.

The Commission will accept written comments regarding the proposed regulations through December 6, 2002. Comments may be sent to the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, 5 Middlesex Avenue, Somerville, MA 02145.
