Public Hearing and Comment Period on Proposed Regulation Amendments

This memo announces PERAC's proposed amendments to its regulations, filed with the Secretary of State under G.L. c. 30A, and schedules four public hearings (April 24–30, 2002) across the state for boards and interested parties to review and comment on the changes. Boards are not required to take action but are encouraged to attend a hearing and/or submit written comments by the May 1, 2002 deadline.

M E M O R A N D U M TO: Retirement Boards and Interested Parties FROM: Joseph E. Connarton, Executive Director RE: Public Hearing and Comment Period on Proposed Regulation Amendments DATE: March 25, 2002

Enclosed for your review is a copy of the proposed amendments to the Commission’s regulations, which have been filed with the Office of the Secretary of State, in accordance with G.L. c. 30A, and a summary of the changes. Please note that a series of public hearings will be held on the following dates and locations:

• April 24, 2002, Wednesday, at 1:00 PM at the Springfield State Office Building, 436 Dwight Street, Springfield, MA. This hearing will be held in the Courtroom Conference Room 305.

• April 25, 2002, Thursday, at 1:00 PM at the New Bedford Free Public Library, 10 Riverside Drive, Lakeville, MA (first building in the Lakeville Corporate Park). This hearing will be held in the conference room on the 3rd floor across from the Art Room.

• April 29, 2002, Monday, at 10:00 AM, Conference Room 1 on the 21st floor of the McCormack Building, One Ashburton Place, Boston.

• April 30, 2002, Tuesday, at 10:00 AM at the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, 5 Middlesex Avenue, 3rd Floor, Somerville, MA 02145.
This hearing will be held in the PERAC Training Room on the 3rd floor.

You are encouraged to attend and participate at all or any of these hearings.

The Commission will accept written comments regarding the proposed regulations through May 1, 2002. Comments may be sent to the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, 5 Middlesex Avenue, Somerville, MA 02145.
