MEMO # 11/2001 M E M O R A N D U M TO: Retirement Boards FROM: Joseph E. Connarton, Executive Director RE: Annual Determination of costs to be assumed for non-invasive tests DATE: January 22, 2001 Pursuant to 840 CMR 10:10 (3) and 840 CMR 10:15 (4) the Commission shall assume the cost of any non-invasive medical tests suggested by the medical panel which are necessary to render an opinion of the member’s medical condition. This amount is established annually by the Commission and communicated to all retirement boards during the month of January. The current cost of tests to be assumed were presented to the Commission on January 17, 2001. The determination of the Commission was to maintain the current fee schedule for the upcoming year. The established fees associated with medical panels and restoration to service panels shall not be increased. The Commission will assume the total cost of non-invasive tests suggested by a regional medical panel examining a member in connection with an application for disability retirement in an amount not to exceed $200 likewise, the Commission will assume the total cost of non-invasive tests suggested by a medical panel examining a member in connection with the restoration to service process in an amount not to exceed $200. Costs in excess of $200 per panel may be assumed by the Commission with the approval of the Executive Director.
