Laing DATE: May 12, 2000 It is with tremendous sadness that I inform you of the death of our Chairman Elizabeth E. Laing. As you know, Elizabeth was appointed to the Commission by her colleagues on September 17, 1997. She also held a Gubernatorial appointment as Chairman of the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration of the Commonwealth, mediating and arbitrating labor disputes in both the public and private sector. It goes without saying that all of us are shocked at her sudden passing. Elizabeth was a dedicated, intelligent and articulate woman, who was committed to the profession of public service. Not only was she our Chairman, she was my friend. I will miss her friendship, leadership, and guidance. I know that her fellow Commissioners’ and PERAC staff feel the same way. She led the debate on many important policy issues during her tenure. All of us will miss her wisdom and her wit! Services for the Chairman will be as follows: Leo J.
