View original on MA State Library →Summary
PERAC Memo #11/1999 announces a series of three-hour Disability Retirement Review sessions in February/March 1999 to educate boards on the Disability Retirement Regulations (840 CMR 10.00), Disability Unit procedures, and newly revised forms. Boards must ensure that staff responsible for counseling and processing disability applications attend their assigned session (with board members welcome but encouraged instead to attend the broader spring Public Pension Administration Seminar), and should respond promptly to confirm attendance or request a schedule change.

PERAC MEMO #11/1999 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Joseph E. Connarton, Deputy Executive Director RE: Disability Retirement Presentations DATE: February 1, 1999 The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission will be holding a series of presentations to inform retirement boards about PERAC’s Disability Retirement Regulations (840 CMR 10.00), to review the policies and procedures of our Disability Unit, and to introduce a series of newly revised forms. It is imperative that retirement board staff members who are directly responsible for counseling and processing disability retirement applications attend one of these three-hour sessions. These sessions will be sharply focused on how to complete the paperwork and ensure an efficient process. Board Members are welcome to attend these presentations. PERAC will also be offering a “Public Pension Administration Seminar” in the spring that presents an overview of many aspects of pension administration, including disability processing, which is likely to be a better match for board members’ needs and interests. Further information about the “Public Pension Administration Seminar” will be forthcoming. Four Disability Retirement Review sessions will be held at PERAC’s Somerville offices for boards in the greater Boston area and those boards north of Boston. These sessions will run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on February 24 th , March 2 nd , March 4 th and March 9 th , 1999. A session will be held at the Plymouth Public Library from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on March 16 th . On March 23 rd from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM a session will be held in Worcester at 10 Mechanic Street. And a session will be held on March 25 th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Inn at Northampton. In order to ensure that we have sufficient seating capacity for each session, each retirement board will be invited to attend a specific session. We very much appreciate your taking the time to respond to these invitations so that we can maintain an accurate headcount. If the scheduled session proves to be inconvenient for you, we will attempt to accommodate requests to attend a different session.
