View original on MA State Library

Summary

This memo announces that PERAC's Retirement Guide, Disability Retirement Guide, and Survivor Benefits Guide are now available on PERAC's website, allowing boards to print copies as needed rather than requesting them from PERAC. Boards are encouraged (though not required) to notify member personnel offices of the guides' availability and to use the website as a resource for keeping members informed of up-to-date retirement information.

PERAC MEMO #5/1998 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Robert F. Stalnaker, Executive Director RE: Retirement Guides DATE: January 29, 1998 As you know, PERAC's Massachusetts Public Employee Retirement Guide , Guide to Disability Retirement for Public Employees and Guide to Survivor Benefits for Public Employees have been added to PERAC's Home Page on the Internet. PERAC's Internet address is: www.state.ma.us/perac . The guides can be found under the Publications Directory. We are pleased to offer these guides via the Internet as it affords an opportunity to present the most up-to-date information. Dissemination is immediate and cost effective. When updates become necessary (none have been made since the guides were originally posted on the Internet in November), they can be made in a timely fashion and the latest versions can be printed directly from the site with ease. Retirement boards may print as many copies as they require without having to contact a printer or make arrangements through PERAC. PERAC frequently receives requests for copies of the retirement guides. If the request is made by a public employee or retiree, the member will be referred to his or her retirement board (and the Internet - if such access is available to them). To make certain that all public employees are aware that up to date information about retirement rights and benefits is readily available, you may want to notify the personnel offices with which your board interacts that copies of these retirement guides are available from your office and via the Internet. Public employees are entitled to up-to-date information and provision of these guides is one important means of ensuring that it is available to those who seek it. We urge all boards to avail themselves of the opportunity to access PERAC's Internet Home Page. It is a powerful and efficient tool that boards can use to better serve their membership.
