PERAC MEMO #44/1998 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Joseph Connarton, Deputy Executive Director RE: Disability Pension Fraud Hotline DATE: October 15, 1998 Please be advised that, pursuant to C.427, § 10 of the Acts of 1996, the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) established a toll-free hotline for the prevention and investigation of fraudulent disability pension claims and payments. The hotline phone number is 1-800-445-3266 . All messages will be kept confidential . The hotline will be promoted via a poster campaign featuring the slogan, “it adds up” . The Commission would sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this effort by displaying the enclosed poster in your office or another location in your building that will provide maximum visibility. We are enclosing three posters for your use. Please display them in your office and in other locations in your building that will provide maximum visibility. Also enclosed is a “Referral Report of Potential Fraud” form that will be processed by PERAC’s Fraud Unit. Your staff should use this form to report any potential public pension fraud. Your should also make this form available to anyone else who wishes to report potential fraud. Please make additional copies as needed. Also enclosed for your reference is a copy of C.427, § 10 of the Acts of 1996.
