PERAC MEMO #29/1998 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All Retirement Boards FROM: Robert F. Stalnaker, Executive Director RE: EIP DATE: July 1, 1998 We are pleased to inform you that the House of Representatives has approved H.5020 relating to revision of the Early Intervention Programs created under Section 5B of Chapter 32. That matter is now under consideration by the State Senate. We have been in contact with various Senators working to insure passage by that body and urge Retirement Boards and staff to contact their local Senator regarding this important legislation. Retirement Boards are instructed to take no action relative to EIP until further notice by PERAC. The Commission is presently reviewing the plans submitted by the Boards as well as considering its own guidelines for implementation. In addition, the 30 day period prior to an injured employee eligibility for EIP will begin to run as of this date. We will keep you apprised of the status of that review as well as H.5020. / jim
